Band:
Students in 4th – 5th grades are eligible for participation in the Winston Academy Band. Students will need an instrument, a Standards of Excellence Book, reeds for the clarinet or alto saxophone, and valve oil for the trumpets. Students who participate in band will meet on Tuesday’s from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm. Bricks 4 Kidz:
Bricks 4 Kidz is a hands-on class where students will design and build educational models including motorized machines. Sessions are held every Wednesday or Thursday for 1 hour (3:00 pm – 4:00 PM) depending on which program you sign up for. Chorus:

Chess Club:

ITV (WBNN Morning News):
Students who participate in ITV must have a teacher recommendation. Once a student is selected, they will work on taping for the news show throughout the day. Students will be asked to stay after school one day a week to work on editing and filming special segments. Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is limited to a small group of students in grades 3-5 who meet each Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 pm and a small group of students in grades 1-2 who will meet on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:15 pm in order to practice and plan problem-solving techniques in preparation for local competition. In order to be eligible, students must apply by completing an essay and receiving recommendations from two teachers. Participating students must also remain in good academic standing throughout the school year. Robotics:
The WAE Robotics Club meets each Monday starting mid-October from 3:15-4:30 pm. Eligible students in grades 4-5 meet to practice and plan robotics programming for local competitions.
