ITV (WBNN Morning News):
Students who participate in ITV must have a teacher recommendation. Once a student is selected, they will work on taping for the news show throughout the day. Students will be asked to stay after school one day a week to work on editing and filming special segments. The archery club begins on Monday, November 9th. Students in grades 3-5 are eligible for participation. Students must have a permission slip and teacher recomendation. Practices are held on Monday’s from 3:00 – 5:00.
Students in 3rd – 5th grades are eligible for participation in the Winston Academy Band. Students will need an instrument, a Standards of Excellence Book, reeds for the clarinet or alto saxophone, and valve oil for the trumpets. Students who have never participated in band meet on Monday’s from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Previous band students meet on Wednesday’s from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Students in 4th and 5th grades are eligible for participation in the Winston Academy Chorus. Chorus rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If your child is interested in participating in Chorus, please contact Mr. Smith at (863)499-2890 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students in 2nd -5th grade are eligible for participation in the Chess Club. Meetings are held on Wednesday’s from 3:00 – 4:00. If you are interested in joining the Chess Club please contact Mrs. Caron at email@example.com.
Students in 3rd – 5th grades are selected to participate in the Engineering Team based upon teacher recommendation. The team meets on Wednesdays from 1:15 – 2:15 to work on the competition challenge, which is submitted in January. Bricks 4 Kidz:
Bricks 4 Kids is a hands-on class where students will design and build educational models including motorized machines. Sessions are held every Tuesday for 1 hour (3:00 pm – 4:00 PM). For a full description of each class or to register, please visit www.bricks4kids.com/polk.
